About Marks and Frantz

Interior designers Lydia Marks and Lisa Frantz are founders of Marks and Frantz, a full service interior design and decoration firm based in New York City. Since 2009, the firm has been commissioned for a wide variety of residential, commercial, film and television projects.

The great variety of completed work illustrates the firm’s versatility, but whatever the project, every Marks & Frantz design is infused with this core philosophy: that everyone wants to live with happiness, beauty and a touch of whimsy; that glamour and elegance can co-exist comfortably with functionality and be part of everyday life; that choosing and living with things you love is the best foundation for a design. No project begins until the designers are certain that it will stand on the pillars of a client’s unique aspirations, goals, usage expectations, functional needs and lifestyle.

Interior Designers Lydia Marks and Lisa Frantz believe…

…in the basic principles of good design but also in pushing through boundaries, employing creativity and imagination to innovate solutions. If there are signatures that run through the work, they are a devotion to fine craftsmanship, an eye for precise detail and a deft use of pattern, scale, texture and color that piques the imagination and draws the eye through spaces. Regardless of style, the finished rooms always feel both elegant and extraordinarily comfortable because they’re fully realized from every angle and in every aspect.

Marks & Frantz’s work has been featured in publications such as The New York Times, Traditional Home, Elle Décor, and Architectural Digest. It also can be enjoyed on the small and large screen, in the 2013 redesign of the Today Show as well as many high-profile feature films, notably the fashion-inspired settings of the Sex and the City films, The Devil Wears Prada, Broken Flowers, and The Namesake.
